What does Kani Gravan mean?
This spring is located in the Kurdish region of Iran; Kani Gravan means "heavy and hard spring" in Kurdish language. But why hard and heavy? The reason is the mineals dissolved in water. According to new research, it is estimated that there is about one gram of dissolved salt in each liter of spring water. These minerals give healing properties to the spring and are used to treat skin, bone and muscle diseases.
Why is the spring special?
If you travel to this area in spring and summer, you will see one of the most memorable sights of your life. You would be enchanted by a limestone rock with white to yellow colors, which was formed due to the sedimentation of the waterfall salts from the Kani Gravan spring and surrounded by a green plain with countless colorful flowers. More interestingly, the height of this rock increases every year. In winter, this attraction has also its own beauties. Due to the abundance of salt in the spring, the water does not freeze, but the frozen limestone rock appears like a white gem.
