Izadkhast Carvanserai
Izadkhast Caravanserai is located in the north of Fars province, in the city of Abadeh, on the Isfahan-Shiraz road.
This caravanserai, which was one of the most important caravanserais in Iran, was built during the reign of Shah Abbas Safavid. Izadkhast Caravanserai is about four thousand meters wide and has twenty rooms on the north, east and south sides. The size of the caravanserai rooms is three by three meters and in front of each room there is a porch with an area of seven and a half meters.
Behind these rooms and porches, there are about eight large barns and stables. The porches, courtyards and halls of this building are the remarkable features of this caravanserai that are of great importance in the field of architecture. This four-porch caravanserai is a remarkable example of urban planning and engineering and is unique in terms of size and strength. Brick, clay, stone carcass, etc. have been used in the construction of this building. The arches were built in the style of Roman brick and multiplication, and later crescent arches were added to them. The floors of the inn rooms are also covered with bricks. One of the most beautiful decorations used in this building is the beautiful tiled inscription on the head of the building, which is written in white calligraphy on an azure background. Around the courtyard of the caravanserai, there are historical tombstones, each of which is an important example of Iranian sculptural art. Izadkhavat Caravanserai, which was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran on October 28, 1975 with the registration number 1112, was used as a gendarmerie station for some time.
