Naqsh-e Rostam historical site

Naqsh-e Rostam is located 5 km away from Persepolis. In this place, which must have had a special sanctity in the past, Darius I of the Achaemenid dynasty built his tomb in the form of a tomb on a rocky mountain.

Construction of this tomb began in 519 BC. After him, three other Achaemenid kings, imitating him, built three more tombs for themselves next to the tomb of Darius. In this place, there is a beautiful building known as the Kaaba of Zoroaster and some lithographs from the Sassanid dynasty.
There is also an Elamite lithograph in the role of Rostam on which the Sassanid lithograph was carved during the Sassanid period.

The historical site of Naqsh-e Rostam

The historical site of Naqsh-e Rostam is situated in the mountains of Persia and the oldest buildings, tombs, reliefs and inscriptions of ancient Iran are located in it. Around Naghsh-e Rostam, there are other historical areas that are an important historical source for understanding the history and civilization of Iran in the BC and early AD. The difference between Naghsh-e Rostam and other historical attractions of Fars province is the placement of works from three prominent historical periods in it. Naqsh-e-Rostam region had a special value for Achaemenid and Sassanid kings and for this reason many relics from these periods can be found in Naqsh-e-Rostam. Naqsh-e Rostam was first excavated in 1302 AH, equal to 1923 AD, by a German archaeologist, during which the remains of towers and castles of the Sassanid period were discovered. Thirteen years after this date, Naqsh-e-Rostam inscriptions and then after three years, lithographs were also found among the rocks and stones. A reservoir on the west side of Naqsh-e Rostam and the remains of other palaces and buildings were discovered during subsequent excavations, respectively.
Naqsh-e-Rostam of Shiraz is known as the location of the tombs of Achaemenid kings; but today, for historians and archaeologists, the importance of this region during the Sassanid rule has been determined. In aerial photographs, the remains of the Sassanid fortress can be clearly seen. The reliefs of Naqsh-e Rostam are also remembered from the Sassanid dynasty.
Remains of towers and walls from the Sassanid dynasty show the existence of castles limited to the mountains in this area at that time. There are seven towers on the south side and four towers on the east and west sides of the mountain.  The architectural style of this building is quite similar to the architecture of the Achaemenid dynasty. Although the exact date of construction of this fort is not known, according to the available historical sources, the construction of this fortress can be attributed to the reign of Ardeshir and Shapur.

Shiraz Naqsh-e Rostam

Shiraz Naqsh-e Rostam is one of the valuable historical sites left in Fars province, which during the reign of the most powerful kings of ancient Iran, during the dynasty of Achaemenids and Sassanids, had great prosperity and glory. Today, this region is known as one of the most valuable historical documents in world civilization. There is a lithograph in the Naqsh-e Rostam that depicts the moment of the coronation of Ardashir I. According to historical evidence, Ardashir I's father was one of the worshipers of the Anahita Temple in the city of Istakhr.
After Ardeshir's victory in the battle with Ardavan Parthian, this lithograph was prepared by the order of Ardeshir's father. In this image, Ahuramazda, who is riding on a horse like Ardashir, gives the crown of the kingdom to Ardeshir.
Another person is seen in the picture who is also present in other pictures from Ardeshir. This person was Ardeshir's servant, who in this picture is holding a fly and standing behind Ardeshir. Two enemies have also died under the horses' hooves, one of which is the 5th Parthian army.
