Architecture of the Mausoleum of Avicenna Hamedan

What is important about the architecture of the Mausoleum of Avicenna in Hamedan is that the original plan of the building is in accordance with the style of the century-old building in which this famous scientist lived. This style of architecture is the result of combining the architecture of ancient Iran and post-Islamic Iran. The Mausoleum of Avicenna in Hamedan is inspired by Qaboos Dome Tower in Golestan Province, which is the oldest historical building of the Islamic era in Iran. With the difference that the building of Qaboos dome has ten cracks, but the building of Mausoleum of Avicenna has twelve cracks. These twelve foundations represent the twelve disciplines of knowledge in which this great scientist has mastered. It should be mentioned that the design of the tomb was presented by Houshang Seyhoun, a prominent Iranian architect. The height of each pillar of the tower from the lower part of the tomb to under the dome is about 23 meters. The width of each pedestal is about one meter and 17 cm in the lower part and 92 cm in the upper part. The conical dome of the tomb is about 6 meters high. The total height of the building is 28 meters. There is an integrated marble slab among these 12 tower pillars, which is about two and a half meters long and more than one meter wide. Inscriptions in thuluth script are written on this tombstone.
