Stars valley

Stars valley

In the west of Barake Khalaf village, 5 km away from the south coast of Qeshm Island, Stars Valley, which is about 2 million years old, has been formed due to soil, rock and sand erosion caused by wind, rain and thunderstorms.

One of the masterpieces and natural attractions of Qeshm Island is Stars Valley. The people of the island believe that one day a star fell from the sky into the heart of the island and created strange shapes from soil, stone and sand. This place is also called the Setare Ofte (fallen star) or sometimes setare Oftide , but for this rare geological phenomenon, the name of the Stars Valley is known. Some locals believe that as the weather got dark, the valley became a place for ghosts and goblins to travel, but so far this has not been proven. Due to the special shape of this valley and the types of volumes and erosion phenomena in it, strong winds and air circulation in the valley and sound production have caused some to refuse to enter the valley at night.

Stars Valley World registeration

The features and sights of the Stars Valley caused this valley to be registered as a part of the natural monuments of UNESCO as a part of Qeshm Island Geo Park. Qeshm Geo Park with its beautiful natural and historical monuments is the only Geo Park in the Middle East. The Valley of the Stars and the Valley of Chah kuh are amazing phenomena of erosion of the Earth's sedimentary rocks.

Stars valley1

Stars Valley is one of the most scenic places in Qeshm and similar geological forms can be seen only in the United States. The Valley of the Stars is actually an area eroded by surface waters, seasonal showers and hurricanes. The primary plateau, which is almost intact in the northern part, is located at a height of 7 to 10 meters from the valley and its material is sandstone with calcareous cement and lots of fossil shells. Other sections that can be seen in this valley include pointed cones, eroded columns and columns, arches and blades, and strip walls. Due to the loose material of the layers, it is expected that after each heavy rainfall (which rarely happens) there will be noticeable changes in the appearance of the valley.
