Susa Hafttappeh museum

Hafttappeh Museum of Susa is one of the oldest museums in Khuzestan and Susa provinces, which has a long history and reminds us of the ancient civilization of Iran. This beautiful historical site is located 15 km southeast of Susa and 100 km from Ahvaz.

This ancient site is located 23 km away from Tchoghaznabil. At present, there are ruins from this ancient site that date back to 3500 years ago. What can be seen in this area is the existence of several hills, and the name of this place comes from tc and playing in ancient Ilam. With the start of Hafttappeh project and after the museum was repaired in March 2001, it was reopened as a museum and exhibition of study works of Hafttappeh and Tchoghaznabil projects.he same hills (7 hills). This area is about 1.5 square kilometers and consists of 14 different hills. This large area caused many archaeologists and explorers to look for antiquities in it. With the beginning of the imposed war in 1980, the museum was closed and some of its objects were transferred to Tehran. The museum building includes exhibition halls, a library, a laboratory, a computer center, a pottery drawing room, a warehouse, a restoration workshop and a photography laboratory. Also, inscriptions with cuneiform have been found in it so far. Among the objects found in the ancient site of Hafttappeh, we can mention a large number of various sculptures and statues. Among them, there are human clay sculptures, statues of musicians and goddesses of fertility, as well as statues of animals. Archaeological excavations of Hafttappeh in terms of discovering inscribed texts is one of the rare excavations that has been done in our country. The excavations of Hafttappeh have so far provided several large stone inscriptions in excess of thousands of clay tablets written in cuneiform and Akkadian.
