Semnan Imam Mosque is known as Soltani mosque. This mosque is located in Imam Khomeini Street, Semnan city. This tourism attraction of Semnan province is one of the most beautiful and magnificent historical work of Semnan that is also used for Jome (Friday) prayers.

Features of Semnan Imam Mosque

Semnan Imam Mosque has four entrances from north, south, east and northwest. To the northwest of this mosque is a door that opens into a long corridor. The end of this rests on a space. The north, south and east doors have a vestibule and a vestibule. Above the north and east doors there is a beautiful gypsum moqarnas decoration with two double-sided earrings on both sides with tiled armpits. One of the beauties of this mosque is its brick arches and in fact its arched tiles. These arches are elastically tiled. The west porch of this mosque with a height of 19.5 meters, is much more beautiful than other porches. This porch has beautiful tiles and inscriptions. Behind the west porch, there is a beautiful mausoleum with 21 meters height. At the top of this mausoleum, there is a spire that includes a small dome covered with turquoise tiles and a long octagonal column. On the sides of this porch, two minarets have been built that have reached near the top of the porch but have remained unfinished.

Naves of Semnan Imam Mosque

On both sides of the west porch of the Semnan Imam Mosque, there are two naves consisting of forty arches and thirty circular and thick columns in the middle and five and a half columns on each side, which makes a total of forty columns. The eastern porch of the mosque with a height of 18.5 meters has a unique splendor. Above this porch, a beautiful finial in the form of a hexagonal design, with a pyramidal shape and a lattice fence and interesting wood shows itself. The wide courtyard of the mosque is 62 square meters long. On the sides of the porches and the four corners of the courtyard, there are four large rooms with several small rooms and shops. Below them there are naves with glazed brick lattice windows. In the northern, southern and eastern vestibules, domed brick arches with numerous arches with tiled elasticity can be seen. Imam Semnan Mosque is one of the four porch mosques that belongs to the Qajar period. This mosque was built during the reign of Fath Ali Shah Qajar and by the efforts of Haj Seyyed Hassan Hassani and Professor Safar Ali Memar.
