Semnan Abr forest
Semnan Abr forest, is one of the oldest and most beautiful Hyrcanian forests, which is one of the sights of Iran with rare plant and animal species. In fact, this forest with an area of about 35,000 hectares is located near the village of Abar Shahroud on the border of Semnan province and Golestan province.
It is known by this name because it covers the forest in the seasons of the ocean year from the clouds. In this forest, the clouds are so close to the ground that the forest seems to be riding on clouds.
Lots of tourists refer to Semnan Abr forest as one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Iran and the most attractive attractions of Semnan province. Abr forest was registered in the list of natural heritage of Iran by the Cultural Heritage Organization on February 11, 2011. On February 20, 2015, Abr forest was declared as a protected area and was included in the list of four areas of the Environmental Protection Organization.

Shahroud Abr forest is one of the most attractive and pleasant forests in the world and one of the most important attractions of Semnan province. The high altitude of the forest, the low temperature in the hot season, the presence of beautiful springs and waterfalls and forest cover and various animal species are the features of this forest. This forest with its pristine and unique landscapes has attracted the attention of many tourists.
Existence of plant species such as beech, oak, hornbeam, alder, oak, elm, yew, thyme, etc. has doubled the attractiveness of Semnan cloud forest. The special climate of this forest has caused different trees to grow in it, some of which have crawled on the ground with their special shape and have created a beautiful landscape. Abundant and rare plant species in this forest have turned Abr forest into one of the banks of Iranian medicinal plants.
One of the sights of Abr forest is its beautiful waterfalls. These refreshing waterfalls cool the forest space and the sound of their fall gives a special calm to naturalists. Spectacular waterfalls of Abr forest include Shersher and Alochal waterfalls. These waterfalls are fed by beautiful springs such as sour springs, Qatari springs, etc. These springs are other attractions of this spectacular and unique forest.
